Product Description Outline The Sermon on the Mount--now passing its 65th birthday--remains a vital and provocative introduction to the ideas at the heart of Christian Science. At heart it means to be entirely practical
Amazon.com Review The Sermon on the Mount--now passing its 65th birthday--remains a vital and provocative introduction to the ideas at the heart of Christian Science. At heart it means to be entirely practical, as the "Science" of the name would indicate. Denying any interest in theology (there is no theology in the Bible, Fox argues), the author instead suggests that what Jesus was after was results: "Jesus explains to us what the nature of God is, and what our own nature is; tells us the meaning of life and of death; shows us why we make mistakes; why we yield to temptation; why we become sick, and impoverished, and old; and, most important of all, he tells us how all these evils may be overcome, and how we may bring health, happiness, and true prosperity into our lives." And the Spiritual Key? Fox puts it quite simply: "The Truth turns out to be nothing less than the amazing but undeniable fact that the whole outer world--whether it be the physical body, the common things of life, the winds and the rain, the clouds, the earth itself--is amenable to man's thought, and that he has dominion over it when he knows it." --Doug Thorpe

Sermon on the Mount August 24, 2010 Jan Stewart Clark (Great Falls, VA United States) This book is sure to provide spiritual enlightenment. The book was a challenging read, so some friends and I formed a book study to exchange our thoughts and understanding of its messages. The author, Emmet Fox, poses new (to us) interpretations of the bible's beatitudes. His messages are potentially life-changing. His words are inspirational and provide a guide to living a serene, happy and peaceful life. The book is intended to assist people to attain these goals through a belief in Jesus Christ.
good job August 11, 2010 Linda hoeck (JELM, Wyoming, US) Paperback book was in the exact great condition it said it would be. Arrived timely. I would order again.
Sermon on the Mount August 10, 2010 Tony I use this book similar to a bible;
but it breaks down the New Testamount
as only Mr. Foxx can do.
I try to start and end my day with
this. I even give a copy to my clients
and close friends
who truly appreciate the fact that
I care enough about them to do so.
I believe it is one of the greatest
books ever written on Christ and
what he actually meant by his
parables and His Sermon on The
Mount
One of my favorite books July 24, 2010 Mass Bound (USA) I have read it three times now and get new information each time I read it. Very well composed. Really helped me to understand some of the complexities of the message.
Divine Science not Christianity July 3, 2010 Former Astrologer (Mid-Atlantic Region, USA) 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
Emmet Fox was a Divine Science minister. While he refers to the Bible and to Jesus, his beliefs were along the lines of New Thought, which teaches that God is an impersonal principle, Jesus was a mere man who realized his divine nature, the only reality is inner reality and thought, and all men can become a Christ through right thinking and realization of their divine nature. This book is very subtle in its deception due to Fox's use of Christian and biblical terms. However, Fox means something else by the terms. In this book, Fox denies the existence of man's sin, the atonement of Christ, and states that one can alter reality with thought. It is not Christian but rather Divine Science, an offshoot of the New Thought movement.
