you need to hear it May 6, 2010 Jorge Abad Monzon (Madrid, ES) I try to listen to it every day. Open your mind and let it fill you in
Great book, full of help tips March 29, 2010 Earl D. Shaffer (USA) I originally had this on cassette. Then the books that the topics came from. Now the CDs. I really enjoyed it and it has helped me. Its a review of common sense habits that can make your life better. If you are organized, it will help you be more organized. If you are well-read, it will inspire you to be even better-read. And if you are overloaded with life, kids, work, and the world, it will help you take a big deep breath, and start to get back on track.
I speak at technical conferences and I know what it is like to try to be helpful to hundreds of attendees. In a mixed group, you are not sure what everyone 'wants'. So I have found the best solution is to provide what you know very well and hope the audience finds it helpful. And I think that was what Jim was doing. Talking about real-life issues and giving us some tips and new ways to think about the ordinary. Very, very few books have 'stayed' with me like this one.
I have seen reviews saying his material is 'obvious' and 'nothing new'. I disagree. It takes a push to re-think the ordinary and see if our current habits are helping us or hurting us. Yes, keeping a journal to remind us what we did and what we learned is nothing new. But that new habit really helps. Getting a library card and trying to read something 'hard' every month is nothing new, but that habit alone may change a person's life for the positive, forever.
So, I recommend this collection of his work for anyone looking to improve their life in a doable, practical way.
WOW! January 20, 2010 Lily Buxton A wonderful inspirational message. I believe this is a shortened version of a program I had years ago, which was on Nightingale-Conant. If you are into that style of content, you will really like this one. Jim Rohn goes straight to the meat and really delivers. I love his style and think he is hilarious (but not a comedian, which would be distracting). He is smooth in his delivery, too, which makes learning from him so much easier.
I purchased his material years ago and recently starting reviewing it again, after learning of his death. I was fortunate to see him speak live once and it was amazing. I think that personality comes through here, so I am thankful to have something to remember him by.
I listen to this at least once a week October 1, 2009 Pedro Gonzalez (Philadelphia) This audio-book is a daily call to responsibility, a reminder of the consequences that a positive action (An apple a day..., as Mr. Rhon says) can have over a long period of time. It's a great lecture to hear once a week.
The Art of Exceptional Living September 14, 2009 John Riddle (Guthrie, OK) I agree with the concepts of personal responsiblity he preaches and his outline/suggestions of achieving success. And I like the the CD format that I can be played again once in while to reenforce it -- like while driving in the car.
