Entertaining Read by Carr July 11, 2010 M. Otter This is not one of my favorite Robyn Carr books, but it held my interest after the first few chapters. For me, the start was a bit slow. I wanted to get right into the main characters' stories a bit more quickly. For those of us with children, there are some laughable"I can relate" moments between Barbara Ann and her family. Despite the slowish start, I would recommend this book for Robyn Carr fans.
Excellent Read!!! June 13, 2010 Diane G. Major This is the first book I have read by this author. I was looking for something different and I found it. I could not put this book down. The storyline involves four writers who share a friendship but not really their personal lives with each other. They have come together to sort thru old manuscripts and such for a friend of theirs that past away. You feel compassion, pain, loneliness and just plain love as you read how these woman come to terms with their private lives. I would recommend this book to anyone.
not as good as most Robyn Carr's June 7, 2010 Lily Binilli (Vancouver, Wa) I just Loved Robyn's Virgin River Series and am keeping those books, which is rare for me. Plan to reread them in the future.
I usually give books away after reading them.
I was so looking fwd to this one, kept thinking it'd be more interesting, but never got to that point.
disappointing to not be able to love it !
Looking fwd to the new books she has coming out ~~~
Enjoyed this Immensly April 22, 2010 Jill E (Tacoma, WA) It took a bit to get going but as I got further into it I found myself drawn to the characters with their characteristics that were so real life and so typical that it was easy to identify with them. Carr is one of my favorite authors, and while the Virgin River series is still my favorite, think that anyone who enjoys stories about women and their personal interactions will be drawn into this book and enjoy the read.
Two Thumbs Up for "House on Olive Street" June 10, 2008 Sandra D. Campbell (Warren, MI USA) This book was recommended so highly by a good friend that I made reading it one of my top priorities. My friend insisted, "This is the best book I have ever read." Considering the fact that she belongs to a few book clubs and we both share the love of reading, I took her at her word and ordered the book from Amazon.com. Within a very few pages, I was totally captured by Robyn Carr's fantastic ability to develop her characters.
The women of a writer's group come together to honor the final wishes of one of their dear friends who died suddenly. Each member of the group is completely different from one another and they each have unique circumstances and challenges to face. I was totally captured by the story. I almost felt like I was reading four books in one... and what a great read it was! I loved the book from beginning to end and I highly recommend it. The theme of the story is the fact that friends can help you through any situation and with a combined effort you can become a better person. 5 Stars for Robyn Carr's "The House on Olive Street."
