 Alexander Scourby's Reading - KJV Version Bible May 30, 2010

We purchased Alexander Scourby's reading of the Bible (KJV Version) on tape many years ago and so knew exactly what we were getting on CD. As a Shakespearean actor Mr. Scourby makes the written words come alive. I listen to the CDs on my compute to/from work and am thoroughly enjoying the experience.
The bonus historical DVD of the English language Bible was a special treat--not an indepth history but enough to give one an idea of the struggles involved.
If someone is in the market for an audio Bible, this is the one to choose.

The CDs were a gift for a very close friend. I can't actually give a review based on my own experience with the CDs but the guy I bought them for asked for the Bible on CD and after research I chose these. He listens to them not only during the day but every night with soft earphones. He says they are wonderful and that he has heard a lot of Bible CDs in the past and that I could not have picked a better set. He said the case makes it easy to skip around and that the voice is peaceful enough to fall asleep to. He has a very hard time getting to and staying asleep so that in it's self was a blessing :) He sleeps better and wakes up more refreshed.

New Testament: reasonable quality
Old Testament: overcompressed, telephone quality - no treble or bass
(The cassette version is clearly better).
(If the last third of the OT had been put on the NT disk, it could have been 32kbps and reasonable quality - less than half of the NT CD is Bible.)
If your mp3 player holds only 1 Gig, this is just what you need - under 850Megs for the whole Bible.
Alexander Scourby's recording is the gold standard!
