Very good book and having it on MP3 to take about has been awesome to re explore chapters.

The book is an all time classic and the material is quite interesting. The reading is a bit distracting, however. It seems that the reader is trying too hard to give a dramatic reading and looses an emotional connection with the listener in the process. On the whole, I enjoyed listening to the book, but found this to be rather distracting. The fact that he inexplicably mispronounces common words like "clergy," "finite," and several others adds to the sense that the reader is more interested in the performance than the actual content. An occasional mispronunciation is ok, but there were five or six just in the first three chapters. These are the audible equivalent to spelling errors, which makes me wonder why no editors caught them, which in turn makes me wonder if they too don't really care about the content. It's like watching a movie and you are more aware of the fact that you are looking at actors than you are drawn in to the story and content. I felt that I was being read AT rather than read TO. Disappointing. Fortunately, the content is compelling enough to outshine these nagging distractions.
